Atlanders is a band born of two countries: Ireland and Portugal. With a combined musical experience of over 80 years, we are a modern-day traveling Irish folk band that brings traditional Irish music into the next era. 

 

The concept of Atlanders reflects an Irish tradition; the story of emigration. For centuries, Irish people have left our shores in search of a better life, due to colonization, famine, and poverty. The Irish, well known for their skills in building and carpentry, built major cities around the world from America to Australia. Over the generations, the Irish spirit has permeated these cities through its people, our attitude, and our music.
 

For Irish millennials today, the rising cost of living and an extreme housing crisis in Ireland has again forced the youth of Ireland overseas.

Atlanders join this tradition of emigration and of bringing the Irish spirit to the world, through our music. We have put heart and soul into producing Irish folk music that will transport the Irish diaspora home to the music of our ancestors.

 

Atlanders are made up of 4 of Ireland's top multi-instrumentalists, a dynamic group with a unique sound reminiscent of old Ireland and with a strong influence from modern-day artists. Playing a variety of Irish and American instruments such as banjo, bodhran, mandolin, Irish bouzouki, tin whistle and guitar, this fusion of instruments creates a modern energetic folk sound while still keeping to our traditional roots, all with a touch of American bluegrass. The whaling melodies of the Irish tin whistle over the old-time rhythmical chop of the mandolin are grounded by the earthy soulful backing of the bodhran, Irish bouzouki, and low tuning of the guitar. A match made in heaven!
